Frequently Asked Questions
1.
Is it true that everyone fails their first test?
NO! The results of your exam are dependent solely on your performance.
If you demonstrate sufficient skill and control of your vehicle
and put basic driving laws into practice, you will be successful.
2.
What are the most common reasons for failing an exam?
Lack of preparation is the #1 reason. Applicants should be familiar
with basic driving laws and procedures, as well as the vehicle
they are taking the test in.
Special problem areas include: parallel parking, uncontrolled
intersections, and playground/school zones. Test anxiety also
results in applicants committing uncharacteristic errors. RELAX!
3.
Can I rent a vehicle for my test?
Car rentals will be available in the near future
4.
Can I take a test with an "out of province" license?
NO, recent changes to the Motor Vehicle Administration Act require
individuals to acquire an Alberta license. Your "out of
province" license can be exchanged for an Alberta license
at any Alberta Registry Office.
5.
If I'm a suspended driver how do I get my license back?
You must meet the conditions outlined in your "Notice of
Suspension" letter. Once your suspension period is up,
and if a road test is a specified requirement, you must present
the examiner with either your "Notice of Suspension"
letter OR a "Suspension Verification" form, indicating
your ELIGIBLE REINSTATEMENT DATE.
PLEASE NOTE: A test cannot be conducted without this documentation!
6.
How far in advance do I need to book my exam?
We can usually fit you into our schedule within a few days.
Because we test at several locations throughout the city, though,
we try to book you at the location most convenient to you.
